About Ego State Therapy
Ego State Therapy developed from the pioneering work of Dr. John Watkins and Helen Watkins (click here to read Dr. John Watkin’s Welcome Letter to this year’s conference delegates)

Ego State Therapy is based on the premise that human personality is composed of separate parts or Ego States, rather than being a monolithic entity. This premise has universal applications in psychotherapy and is uniquely suited to healing the fragmentation of personality that results from various types of trauma including attachment disorders, childhood abuse, developmental trauma, and traumas of maturity such as rape, assaults, accidents, war injuries, and natural disasters. Ego State Therapy provides a method for promoting a sense of “family of self” for those experiencing personality fragmentation and a method of working with emotional states and states of mind in other clinical areas.
As well as CME credits, attendees will qualify for 12 hours of training in “The Fundamentals of Ego State Therapy” for those wishing to pursue full certification in the International Foundation for Ego State Therapy (FEST). Click here for certification information.
We are pleased to be able to bring another internationally recognized therapist and teacher to Ottawa as well as experts from our own city to augment Dr. Hartman’s only Canadian presentation on his USA/Canada 2009 schedule.
